Gary Ailes, DVM
Dr. Gary Ailes is a cornerstone of Sierra Veterinary Hospital. In 1974, SVH was established out of a small store front. Since that time, the practice has grown into a 7500 sq. foot freestanding facility known for being one of the best in northern Nevada. Dr. Ailes attended the University of Nebraska before being accepted into the Veterinary School at Colorado State University. He received both his Bachelor of Science and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University. Dr. Ailes married Ruth Brown in 1974. Together they have three grown children and have been blessed with 5 granddaughters.
Lance Kidder, DVM
Lance, a Western Washington native, graduated from Washington State University. Growing up with 4-H and livestock on a small farm, his early experiences with veterinarians made him excited to join such a caring and unique profession. During school, he treasured his role helping fellow students achieve professional success as a national officer with the Veterinary Business Management Association. With keen interest in clinical communication, animal behavior, and preventive medicine and dentistry, Lance is pleased to work at a practice that excels at these pursuits. In his new home of Nevada, he is looking forward to experiencing his first winter within minutes of skiing and the open spaces of the basin and range country. Alison Bellgrau, DVM
Dr. Alison Bellgrau originally hails from Colorado. She attended Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine and spent her first two years of veterinary school at Utah State University. Dr. Bellgrau is an avid skier, hiker, and reader. On her off time she can be found cuddling with her two cats, Nero and Zephyr, and adventuring with her canine hiking companion Ariel. She is particularly fond of large dogs and exotics but loves any sort of animal. She is excited to have the opportunity to hone her communication, surgery, and ultrasound skills at such a unique and diverse practice as SVH. Alex, Customer Service Representative
Alex comes to SVH with his joy and strength in doggy daycare and grooming. He relishes going on explorations with his dog Gambit and he considers himself an amateur restaurant critic. He also enjoys playing both classic computer and board games when not seeking adventure with his pooch.

Emma was born and raised in Northern Nevada and has loved helping living creatures for as long as she can remember. Her love grew as she now shares her home with her 2 dogs, 3 cats and 2 bearded dragons. Luna, her 1 year old Great Dane is her favorite out of the bunch, but shhhhh, don’t tell the others.
Casey was born and raised in Oklahoma and relocated to Nevada in 2004 after a tour of duty in the Navy. In 2010, he graduated from Truckee Meadows Community College and became a Licensed Veterinary Technician. Casey appreciates performing dental cleanings and being able to educate and share his knowledge with clients during their visits. He adores spending time with his wife Sarah, as well as his 4 dogs, two chocolate labs, Bruiser and Coco, and two Chiweenies, Beren and Chloe.
Agnieszka (Aga) was born and raised in Poland where she attended the University of Science and Technology. After she graduated with a master’s degree in Animal Breeding and Food Production in 2005, she moved to the U.S. and settled in Gardnerville where she lives now with her husband and two daughters. She loves her two dogs; an Ori-Pei named Shira and a lab mix named Bullet aka Bucket. Aga enjoys watching movies, reading books and spending time with her family and friends.
Marissa, Veterinary Assistant
Marissa was born and raised here in Northern Nevada and she couldn’t see herself living anywhere else. She set out in the veterinary field in 2011 and she couldn’t be happier with her choice. In her free time she enjoys hiking with her Llewellin Setter, Marley, riding horses, playing slow pitch softball rather competitively and country line/swing dancing. When she is not out and about she is very family oriented and loves to read, cuddled up with Marley and her cat, Bandit.

Jade came to work for SVH in May of 2017 although she has been part of the SVH family for much longer. She spends most of her free time with her two dogs, Mercedes and Milo. She loves all dogs she meets and says, “Big or small, I love them all!”.

Carolyn, Surgery Prep
Carolyn has been with the SVH family since 2005. She is an integral part of our surgeries and is responsible for monitoring the animals while under anesthesia and also manages the surgery prep department. She was born in Tennessee and says she escaped with a passport in 1980 and joined the army. She was eventually transferred and stationed in Alaska where she met her husband where they spent the next 15 years.
Debbie, Kennel Team
Debbie has been part of the SVH family since 2011 and has always had a great love for animals. As a child, she was raised with chickens and ducks and currently has a small zoo living in her home. She has a dog named Bandit, a cat named Lizzy Bell, two conures named Kiwi and Grumpy Ollie, a leopard gecko named Bindi, a tortoise named Herbie and a fish aquarium containing two goldfish and a bottom feeder. Debbie loves working in the kennel and loves all the special dogs and cats that come in for boarding. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her children and grandchildren as well as reading and taking walks with Bandit.

Ashley was born and raised in Carson City. She says “I absolutely believe we live in God’s country and are surrounded by majestic beauty.” She loves being around fur babies, both cats and dogs. She finds it very rewarding to see and be around the animals. She loves watching them play, loves giving them treats and cuddles and says “cuddling is actually my favorite part of the job!”
Sean, Managing Director
Sean joined the SVH family in 2013. Sean is blessed with his wife Laura, two sons, Isaiah and Elijah and his two fur babies (golden retrievers) Crush and Murphy. His life’s enjoyment is spending every twinkling he can with his family and appreciating all the small moments. His pastimes are traveling, photography, playing the drums, goofing off with his kids and is somewhat obsessed with the Yankees. He looks forward to everyday of the week, especially Sunday’s when his family goes to church and then shares a meal afterwards. Disneyland is also high on his list of favorites along with Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter.
