Sierra Veterinary Hospital is proud to offer computed tomography 3D imaging and fluoroscopy. The same technology used in human hospitals is now available for your pets.
In keeping with our pursuit of excellence and innovation, we are excited to be the first in the nation to offer imaging with the NewTom 7G CT scanner. This state-of-the-art medical imaging device allows our medical team to make definitive diagnoses sooner and with more clarity than other imaging modalities. Having it in-house ensures that when your pet is not feeling their best, we can find out what is wrong with more certainty and in less time than ever before.
Computed tomography allows safe 3D imaging of any site on the body, especially aiding visualization of challenging, complex anatomical sites such as the skull, nasal passages, teeth, joints, lungs, fractured bones, and spine. We are able to make 3D reconstructions of any of these sites, as well as produce images cross-sectioning any region of the body into slices less than a tenth of a millimeter, allowing extreme precision for diagnosing minute changes.
Fluoroscopy is also performed by the 7G, allowing visualization of dynamic body processes such as swallowing and breathing. These xray videos are vital for the diagnosis of common ailments such as megaesophagus and tracheal collapse. Fluoroscopy can also allow for precise, real-time visualization of fracture repairs and other surgical interventions such as tracheal stenting.
CT images are also a valuable part of our dentistry offerings, as every patient who receives a dental cleaning also receives a skull CT. This provides a few benefits, allowing us to collect complete information about the health and status of every tooth and root in under a minute, while also providing a general checkup of the health of the sinuses, nasal passages, inner ears, temporomandibular joint, and all other parts of the head. This additional information allows us to pursue the utmost quality of care.
